Aspen Activities

Smuggler – On the top of the list of Aspen Activities, The Smuggler trail. You will find many people hiking, biking or walking their dogs. This easy hike follows a short 1.5 mile trail which is technically an old miners road. The panoramic view of Aspen and the towering peaks surrounding the adorable mountain town will leave you speechless. (Easy to Moderate)

Ute – This trail offers steeper terrain with switchbacks sweeping through knotty pines and mountain chutes. The hike ends with some rocky cliffs that give you a beautiful view of Aspen, and on a crystal clear day you can see up to 40 miles down valley! Feel free to extend your hike and go all the way to the top of Ajax. (Difficult)

Rio Grande Trail – Not only is this trial perfect for an afternoon walk, but you will find it to be a bikers heaven. It curves for miles along the river though the valley, enveloping you in pristine nature the entire way. (Easy to Moderate)

Fishing

Aspen Activities - Fishing

You will see locals fishing all year around the valley! The Aspen Area offers world renowned fly fishing on The Roaring Fork River, The Frying Pan and The Crystal River. Cast a line and you can catch cutthroat, rainbow, brown and speckled trout, along with a few sculpin and whitefish. Local outfitting services are also available to get you going with gear, the inside scoop on what the fish are bitting or better yet – a guided tour to some of the local fishing spots!

Aspen Activities - Skiing

The power of four! Offering 4 different mountains in the valley – there is fun for the whole family!
Aspen Mountain – Ajax has been the local’s favorites since 1947, because it’s located in their backyard! Steep and beautiful, this is a skiers haven! Aspen Mountain offers a variety of glades, bumps and rocky terrain. Take a break from it all and sit at the Sundeck, we are sure you will appreciate the great views and food!

Highlands – Famous for it’s steep Highland Bowl – the terrain is a little steeper than the other mountains and gives you a breathtaking 360 view if the Maroon bells.

Buttermilk – Host of the Winter X Games – take some runs next to the slope style course and see just how gigantic those jumps really are! This is a great mountain for all levels, offering beginner to moderate level runs, wide-open and gently rolling trails. Also, there are terrain park features all over the mountain for every skill level. You won’t believe the view when you get off the chairlift!

Snowmass Mountain – This mountain fits all riding styles. It offers tons of easy to moderate to double black diamond trails, it’ll leave you wanting more!
